Camerata California is a vocal and instrumental ensemble of the South San Francisco Bay area, dedicated to performing sacred and secular music from the medieval through the early Baroque eras. The ensemble was founded by the late Dr. Vernon B. Read, who taught and led the early music Collegium Musicum at San Jose State University for many years. The Camerata has performed on several ocasions at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, as well as the Auditorio del Escorial. One of its principal purposes is to restore the historic musical heritage of classical composers like Brunetti or Boccherini.
